What We’re Reading: March 2, 2015

November 8, 2016 by Claudia Paoletto

This week we’re reading about proposed changes to Medicare Advantage for 2016, plus an emerging training model for providers serving individuals with ASD.

  • The 2016 Medicaid Draft Call Letter is out, and everyone is sharing their two-cents. Reuters is highlighting the draft’s 0.9 percent cut in Medicare Advantage payments, while Kaiser Health News is focusing in on a little-known benefit that few seniors are accessing. More on Medicare: Federal officials toughen nursing home quality standards in the face of criticism, according to the New York Times.
  • NC Health News is following an emerging story out of North Carolina where hundreds with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions may lose access to small-group homes as transitional state funding approved in 2013 to support them is running out.
  • ECHO Autism, a six-month course, is a new effort in the works to help train doctors and other health care providers to better serve individuals on the spectrum through a “whole-person” model of care, per Disability Scoop.
