Posted Sep. 3, 2014 | In a new policy issue brief, the National Senior Citizens Law Center (NSCLC) examines person-centered service planning in the context of both managed care and the recent HCBS Final Rule, analyzing what states are doing – through their Medicaid Long-Term Services and Supports programs – to ensure person-centered planning.
The brief highlights also NSCLC’s online Advocate’s Library: State Practices in Managed Long-Term Services and Supports, which provides a summary of relevant agreements by topic, along with a page number citation, that advocates can use as a tool to improve contacts in their own states. In addition to this NSCLC resource, the National Advisory Board’s 2012 toolkit for legislators, consumers and advocates, Managed Care: Doing It Right – Applying the Independent Living Philosophy, is another good resource for advocates engaging in Medicaid managed care program design and oversight.
